SofN: En 2016 decidiste comenzar tu nuevo proyecto.

Liv Jagrell: ¡Fue totalmente a propósito!

SofN: En Killing Ourselves To Live, colaboras Marcel Schirmer de Destruction.

SofN: Has grabado un gran álbum. ¿Cúal es tu canción / canciones favoritas? ¿Por qué?

Liv Jagrell: ¡Definitivamente «The Fall»!

LIiv Jagrell: Judas Priest, Machine Head, Arch Enemy y Liv Sin.

¡Salud!

Liv Jagrell: ¡Gracias!

ENGLISH VERSION

Liv Sin’s debut album Follow Me, Liv Jagrell‘s new project after her lifelong band Sister Sin’s break up, has been one of the most pleasant surprises I’ve had this year so far. Not only  because of Liv’s return, but also because of the powerful songs behind its eleven tracks. These days, Liv Sin has been touring Spain and we had the opportunity of asking some questions for Science of Noise. Here is what Liv told us…

SofN: Hi, Liv. Thanks for accepting this interview. First of all, there’s a question I wanted to ask you since 2015. After the success of the album Black Lotus, Sister Sin broke up. It was a surprise for all then fans that couldn’t imagine such a thing. Why happened that? How did you live that situation?

Liv Jagrell: Actually I was kind of surprised myself; I felt we were on a very good rise. But we were all also very burnt out from years of touring and hard work, so for two members it got too much, they’ve lost the joy, and then it’s not a good thing to continue. I was very sad but I did understand them.

SofN: In 2016 you decided to begin your new project. The name sounds like a solo project but the album’s cover shows the band. Is Liv Sin a band or Liv’s Jagrell solo project?

Liv Jagrell: It’s a band, we just chose to use my name for an easier promo, but I don’t feel like a solo person, I want a band!

SofN: Liv Sin’s Follow Me has big part of Sister Sin’s soul but I have notice it, harder, thrashy and with a big influence of Judas Priest. Is this what you really like best or is it an influence by the rest of the band?

Liv Jagrell: It was very much on purpose! I’ve always wanted to go heavier and now I finally got the opportunity, and I’m very happy about my decision to continue!

SofN: Your singing is now wilder and powerful. Is this your natural evolution or you were limited by Sister Sin’s style?

Liv Jagrell: I don’t think I was limited, but now when I write my own music, lyrics and melodies, it’s easier to follow my natural voice and I also challenged myself to stretch my limits and experimented with other styles.

SofN: Now you’re the leader of the band and this is a change from your past role in Sister Sin. You have complete control of the band an everything around it. How did you composd the songs for the album?

Liv Jagrell: I’ve composed them together with Patrick, one of my guitar players. He would send me riff ideas and I’d send him melody ideas and vice versa. He very quickly understood the kind of style and music I was looking for.

SofN: In Killing Ourselves To Live collaborates Marcel Schirmer from Destruction. How this idea came up?

Liv Jagrell: Our manager also works with Destruction and this was his idea from the beginning, and we liked it right away!

SofN: There are more German metal signatures in the album. The producers are Stefan Kaufmann & Fitty Wienhold from Accept & U.D.O. Why did you choose them?

Liv Jagrell: I’ve known them since Sister Sin used to tour with them, and I also knew Fitty always said he wanted to work with Sister Sin, now that never happened but when I started my new thing I immediately contacted him to see if he was interested, and he was.

SofN: You have recorded a great album. What are you favorite / favorites song from it? Why?

Liv Jagrell: It’s definitely “The Fall”, I love that intense style, the riffs, just the energy!

SofN: If you had to choose a song from Liv Sin that shows better than any other what is this band is about, which one would you choose?

Liv Jagrell: Now I have to be a bit boring, but it’s “The Fall” again haha, just cuz it’s also a great live song to play.

SofN: If you could put up a tour lineup of any four bands, being Liv Sin one of them, which ones would they be?

Liv Jagrell: Judas Priest, Machine Head, Arch Enemy and Liv Sin.

SofN: You are a truly defender of Animals Rights. Las days you have release a new song, King of the Damned in collaboration with Djurens Rätt. Tell us more about this?

Liv Jagrell: Yes the song is inspired by the shooting of Cecil the Lion, and I feel that we all need to do something or it’s soon too late for the wild life and the wild animals. Humans tend to take over everywhere and push the animals aside. I chose to work with Djurens Rätt cuz they are a very good organization, and I’ve been a member there goes long time.

SofN: I know your natural habitat is the stage and these days you have nine concerts in Spain. How is the tour going? How is the people responding?

Liv Jagrell: It’s been very good so far, only two days left, I’d love to stay longer!

SofN: Which are your plans for the future?

Liv Jagrell: We are planning on a small EP for early next year and then tour more, and jump in the studio for a full length fall 2018.

SofN: There’s something else you want to tell our readers?

Liv Jagrell: Catch us next time on tour, and don’t forget to headbang!

SofN: Thank you for your time and good luck. Cheers!

Liv Jagrell: Thank you!
